Client:    Solent University STEM

Kensington Taylor produced a feasibility study for a new STEM Centre on the city campus of Solent University. The scheme provides approximately 35000sqft of space comprising, general teaching rooms, science laboratories, technical and engineering workshops, and a cafeteria and learning resource space as active ground floor uses. The design concept employs a prominent metal screen or veil to provide solar shading to the southern elevation. The design of this screen derives from chemical bond diagrams and also alludes to the prominent neighbourhood mosque with its Islamic fretwork patterns.
