Kensington Taylor, have worked with us to develop the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly designs possible”. – Gill Battye, College Principal

Kensington Taylor were appointed as Architects for a new 1200 pupil community college under the Government Building Schools for the Future, Pathfinder project. The brief demanded a BREEAM “excellent” rating. A sustainable approach was taken by the whole project team, ensuring energy efficiency was integrated into the building from the initial design stages onwards.

The inclusion of high insulation, natural ventilation, correct orientation and the sourcing of local materials is inherent in this design. A matrix, which fully assessed the whole range of sustainable approaches, allowed the design team to provide a fully researched and excellent sustainable solution through an innovative design.

The project was awarded “Best Educational Development”, for 2011 at the LABC Awards and achieved BREEAM Excellent rating.
